rack boots

#1 Post by johnboy » Mon Jul 24, 2023 5:17 pm

Hi, does anyone know if the steering rack boots ( non P.A.S.) are different for the MK 2 2000 T.C. (1977) from the earlier MK 2. I got a pair of boots but they are too small in diameter. I thought all non PAS boots were the same? cheers.

As the standard non pas steering racks for all models in the range are the same, then it stands to reason the boots are the same. Are the boots genuine Stanpart / Unipart / Rover, or an aftermarket version that claim to fit the 2000?
Don't forget that the inboard end of the two boots per rack are different - one has a much larger id hole....

I think your best bet would be Chris Witor. At least you know they will be the correct fit for your car...

A TIP for anyone else fitting these boots- Steep them in boiling water for 15 minutes and they will go on a lot easier. Cheers all.
