Stag Front Calipers & Disks - Again

#1 Post by Carboy0 » Tue May 11, 2021 3:07 pm

Apologies for asking about this again, as a forum search has yielded many Stag Calipers/Disk threads but the answers I need weren’t covered exactly.

I am committed to upgrading the front brake my PFL Mk2 to Stag brakes. I have rebuilt some Stag Calipers, I have bought some new Stag disks and Mintex M1144 pads and I have some Stag backplates.

My questions are,

1. Can I use the T2000 hub to disk bolts? Or do I need the Stag bolts?

2. Can I use the T2000 backplate to upright bolts?

3. Most importantly, can I use the T2000 caliper bolts on the Stag calipers? If not, what should I use as there are two different Stag bolts.

All advice gratefully received.

I am rebuilding the old T2000 calipers. The new pistons supplied have a very slight chamfered section on the lip. I can’t find any reference to this or if it is correct what orientation it should be in the caliper. Clearly, in use it would push one part of the pad onto the disk before the other.

Advice welcome, I don’t know whether I have been supplied with the wrong pistons or not.

I did this conversion in 2014 - the difference in braking is staggering although I did the rears as well and fitted stainless steel hoses too. I supply ADO16 stainless hoses and can do the Triumph hoses but have never got round to advertising

I've attached the list of parts I purchased at the time of the conversion so caliper bolts are something you need but I don't recall changing hub bolts. You'll also need Stag backplates.

I 've always run on Stag wheels so can't say if the standard 2000 wheels will give enough clearance

The general view is that the Stag Calipers will not fit under a 13" wheel.

Cheers,
Mike.
