Hello folks
I’m just about to take my steering column out as the rubber on the bulk head that the column goes through has come out of its seat, I have tried putting it back in with the column in place but no luck even when I heated the rubber up with hot water.
Before I start is there anything I should be aware of or tricks of the trade I should know?
Thanks in advance
Sal

Get a second person to help you!
I had to replace mine as the rubber failed and replaced it with a polybush.
Trying to remember what I did now, but parcel shelf out is a must.

As Phil T says, easier with the shelf removed, also disconnect the multi-plugs for the wiper/indicator/lights & ignition switches to allow the steering column to be pulled back inside the car once the rake adjustment clamp & the top bolt in the steering shaft u/j have been removed.
As previously mentioned, it all goes back together easier with some help to get the steering column aligned with u/j.

I had my son to help who (being more flexible than I) was able to get some of the more fiddly nuts undone.

I hope you managed this OK. Beware that there is a scroll pin holding the rake adjust clamp bolt in place. It's hard to see and thus often forgotten. And yes, I have in the past missed it too!
Cheers,
Mike.
