I\'m still having problems with the front wheels shaking on my PI estate....I\'ve tried new wheel bearings, solid rack mounts, different wheels, polyeurathane bushes, adjusting the inner ball joints, new bottom ball joints....and it still does it!! Dampers seem ok, ujs on the column seem ok, track rod ends ok, &nbsp;but there is a tiny amount of free play in the pinion. Could this be causing it? Any thoughts gratefully received!!!!<IMG>
Thanks, Brian
PS this is my daily driver and its driving me mad!!

Hello Brian,
You seem to have covered just about everything. I doubt that play in the pinion would have any effect. My feeling is out of round tyres, but you have tried different wheels so you would be unlucky if all your wheels are not true. I would still jack up the car and spin the wheels to see how they run.&nbsp;
My other thought is if you are running alloy wheels, balancers tend to only balance alloy wheels by adding weight to the inside. I don\'t believe you can achieve true balance this way. Static balance, yes but not dynamic balance. Just a thought.

Hi
You say you are having trouble with the front wheels shaking - I\'m guessing that this is manifesting itself at the steering wheel. Just a thought but is the steering wheel hight adjusting clamp tight?
Best wishes

Hi Brian,
A friend of mine ran a 2.5s estate for some years. He told me of a vibration at 55mph from the front wheels, also felt at the steering wheel. Like yourself, he tried changing and adjusting just about everything, but to no avail!....This is how he found the fault.....
Jack up the car at the front, place a housebrick on it\'s end against the tyre sidewall, but not quite in contact. Lower the jack, until the lowest part of the wheel rim is about 3/16\" above the top of the brick, place a steel rule flat on top of brick...Spin the wheel, and look for any sign of the gap between rim and top edge of steel rule altering. If the gap reduces on any part of the rim, the wheel is faulty....This is why,..the STAG ALLOY wheels when made, some of the wheelstud holes were drilled slightly off centre, and some had elongated holes, so even with tight wheelnuts, there is enough movement of the wheel to&nbsp; cause a vibration, which as speed increases, magnifies the problem, and if both front wheels are faulty, it doubles it!
Out of a selection of SIX STAG ALLOYS, only four passed the above test! My friend is a genuine bloke, this is not a \"wind up\". He claims his method really did work!!! He fitted the four \"passed wheels to his car, and the vibration disappeared completely!....Hope this is of help to you, let me know if it cures the fault.
Regards,
&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Bazzamech.&nbsp;

Hi
Thanks for that...I was starting to despair!!! I\'ll check my wheels and see if they are round. The quality of Triumph alloys does not seem to be too hot!!&nbsp;I\'ve been thinking of changing them anyway, maybe for minilites, because a year ago I had them refurbished and already lots of the laquer has peeled off. I use my car every day all year round so maybe they are not suitable.
Thanks to everyone else who replied. I had some problem or other so could not post messages, but it\'s sorted now

Hi Bazzamech
Checked my wheels and they seem to be ok. I have now changed the steering rack, track rod ends and both column universal joints. Touch wood, so far so good. We are going from North Wales up to North Yorkshire in it the Triumph next week so we\'ll see how it gets on
