Stag Dashboard in 2000

#1 Post by Carboy0 » Sun Nov 18, 2018 4:21 pm

Hi guys,

Got my 2000 now, but the dash is pretty bare compared to my Stag. Has anyone fitted a Stag dash in their 2000?

My Stag is in storage now and I can’t get to it at the moment. My gut tells me it will fit, but I haven’t measured it.

I an comfortable with creating the extra loom required, it’s just whether it will physically fit.

I can't give details of the dimensions, but the Stag dash won't fit in the 2000. I think it may narrower, but its definitely a non starter.
Why not fit a dash from a 2.5PI or a 2500S? They look very similar to the Stag layout.
They have the rev counter / speedo, and the individual voltmeter, temp and fuel gauge, which looks far superior to the 2000 / 2500TC dash. If you fit one from the right era, it won't look out of place and the additional wiring for the rev counter is already in place and is simply a 'plug and play', as long as you get the short piece of loom from the rear of the instruments with it and then no extra wiring is needed. You will need the centre wood piece as well for the clock, but the clock wiring reaches without any modification.

Thanks johnnydog,

I’ll follow up with a wanted advert for the 2.5 PI & 2500 TC dashboard and clock section.

Its a 2.5 PI or a 2500S dash you want - the 2500TC dash is like the 2000 apart from the 140mph speedo.
What age of car do you want it for? The facelift cars had hazards and a seat belt warning switches incorporated in the dash whereas the prefacelift cars didn't.

You will therefore need a PI pre facelift dash section, not an S one!
