Hello Colin

I think you have forgot I'm doing a Rally car. It's got a race stag box in and I need a 6 3 1 desperately now as they are still not in stock. My first event is in November and I still have to get the car shaken down and the engine run in.

I had remembered about it being a rally car, which is why I suggested it for easier clutch and 'box repairs. Only remembered about the 6-3-1 problems as I wrote the post!
November isn't so far away either Lee, let's hope they get a move on with the manifold.

Well, I've had a lovely day out to sunny Somerset today, but my wallet feels very light now...

Decided for a semi-sport, since I'm old, like you lot :P

Chris and I had a good poke around the car - it's very original, according to him, even with the factory fitted rotor arm! I also got told off for mentioning that I might find some S alloys to stick on it...so it's either Stag steels or maybe some period Minilites.

The lumpy running at tickover and speed is probably due to exhaust valves, notorious on the late PI head, so maybe time to get the head converted for unleaded use. A quick compression check showed a couple of cylinders better than others, shall we say, but I've yet to service the thing, so setting rocker gaps might have a positive effect. The plugs are the right colour and the exhaust is clear, so there's no oil being burned, which is a good thing! The injection system is behaving itself, with no dribbly injectors or air locks in the pipes.

Very positive is that I measured fuel consumption properly, and it's returning over 30mpg

A long, expensive, but good day :D

As much a lover of minilites as I am, (have them on my 2500) on a PI it would have to be Stag steels & rostyles to keep the look as authentic as possible. 8)

 Another thought, what size are TR5 wheels with rostyles? 15"? A bit rocking horse poo though.

I think a PI with TR5 rostyles with modern 195/60/15 tyres is the way to go then.......
Just a small matter of finding the wheels & trims !
