Triumph Bmw

As some of you know, I've spent this year fitting a BMW M52 engine into my MK1.

The conversion has been performed in a way that will enable me to convert back to the Triumph engine very easily, if I feel the need.

Because today I've reached a milestone, I'm making it public. Here's a link to a build blog, the important post is near the bottom of page 5.

I'm very hopeful that the car will be finished with the bugs ironed out ready to help celebrate the 50th anniversary.

Absolutely superb Andy, well done that is a thing of beauty, doesn't sound half bad too.
Looks like it was built with that engine and you can still bolt up the strut brace.
Amanda was concerned about the puddle of water under the driver's door, hope that was overspill or a loose hose clip, or already there.
We would love the car at Stoneleigh if you can make it mate, 3rd march :D

Tell Amanda not to be overly concerned, there is a small "weep" from the plastic thermostat cover, which have a habit of cracking when installed by a ham fisted brute of a mechanic!

Most of the water was dropped by the same mechanic......

An absolutely amazing conversion 8) , of which you must be very proud, especially after being done in very limited (and cold) space, and without power. Very well done !
Look forward to seeing (and hearing  ) it at next years National.

Yes Charles, you can have a go, but leave the lead boots at home!

As an aside to how the car will go with 170 Bavarian horses under Charles' leaden right foot, what axle ratio do you have on the car Andy?
I think if it's a standard 4.11, you may find that it's better to place a large wooden block under the throttle pedal, if you value the rubber on your rear tyres and the integrity of your axle/halfshafts
