Princess fit too? When you say direct fit— no shimming? And what discs are you running?

That opens the world of HiSpec alu brake calipers then. Not too expensive for lighter cars but would require the bigger and heavier duty ones for a saloon. Could get pricey!

142+VAT each... Ouch...

I know someone who has these on his hot TR7 and he says they're great.

The Monarch conversion uses BMW 525 vented discs (redrilled mounts) and Mazda RX7 aluminium calipers. You can get the calipers in the stats (reconned) for about $180 (a pair).

You then need a spacer to mount the caliper onto the mounts.

Stag is an easier upgrade this gives a couple of benifits. :D

Sure can. Colin R has done that. Although the 'dual' circuit used on the Stag is a bit odd by modern standards. I think Stag brakes etc is something I will consider on the blue PI - when I have all the other, more important bits done!

Cheers,
Mike.
I went the easy route and avoided the PDWA thingy.
Just replace the 4 way splitter on the n/s inner wing with a T and uncouple the rear brake line at the joiner midway along the gearbox tunnel. Replace with a fresh piece of pipe from here direct to the m/c. Hey presto, dual circuit brakes.

I haven't noticed loads of pad knockout with Stag front brakes, but a p/o of the estate had decided that the early (and thinner) mk1 front discs would fit an 's' estate very nicely (read cheaper!) even using the mk2 calipers! When I got the car the discs had an appreciable lip on them, so I checked the thickness with a micrometer and compared them to the Triumph workshop manual recommendations. They were roughly two thirds the min. thickness for a mk2, it then dawned on me what had been done. Now that was severe pad knockout when doing full lock shuffling about.

HI James

There is another set of calipers you can use but you also have to have vented discs they are volvo 240 for the calipers and renault 21 Turbo diesel for the discs 260 mm asmall amount of work and they bolt on. plus i have fitted a princess servo(1 inch bigger ) and 'dual' circuit system

Thanks Ken - can you expand on "little work"

Vented discs I am unsure on, if they are oversized your brakes never warm up!

260mm is not too big though.

this is the set up Ken has on his V8 beast......... I can confirm they work!

Ken took me on a trip up Prescott in it......... where I was braking hard, he was going for another gear, then braking much much later and sooooooooo hard I nearly went through the screen!

As for warm up times, its all down to pad choice............
