I've been following your strut brace manufacture with interest, thinking possibly doing something similar.Freight costs would prohibit my getting one of yours.
By coincidence I've just got a copy of "The BMC/BL Competitions Department" by Bill Price.
At this time I've only skimmed through it, its 390pages long, but if anyone can get hold of a copy have a look at page 255, A picture of mk2 P.I. 1970 World Cup Rally car. it shows a brace. Looking with a glass, it shows the brace bar bolted to the plates on top of the towers.
Thought it may be of interest.

Thats interesting indeed!

Unboltable. You still need to undo 4 bolts tho, and I can undo all 6 strut top nuts in about 2 mins. But i suppose every second counts in competition.

Also would having the bolts through like that make the whole structure weaker and not aid stiffness as much as a welded one?

With a bit more thought and design I could probably have some of these type made, althougth the extra fabrication involved would increase the cost.

The other possibility is that I can make the bits that go onto the strut tops and leave it up to you (the public in general) to make your own bar to fit between how you want it.

I still think my design is neater and more pleasing to the eye tho

If you look closely at the brace bar, which appears to be 1'' square tube, it seems to be reinforced each side of the rocker cover. I wonder why.

It actually looks like it is made up of three peices welded together as in an earlier design on this thread

Hello Tony,

what I think it is that the tube is in three pieces with the centre section welded on top of the outer pieces to clear the rocker cover. All in all it doesn't look like a very well designed or fabricated item. Very clumsily done in my view and not exceptionally strong either.

The question has to be asked - what are those pipes going past? Air for something?

Cheers,
Mike.
