Hello allen,

not ideal, but probably as good as you will get given the 2000's engine height - low bonnet line.

I assume that is a sketch as ideally the strut plates need more gusseting to the tube, as drawn it is very weak there.

Yes, the sketch is completely from memory, I'm sure there's adequate bracing on the real thing. It was just to show the concept of having the central tube which clears the rocker cover, and two shorter lengths of the same tube welded underneath. Saves having to bend a tube, relatively easy for the home welder to fabricate, I'd have thought.

Just out of interest, if I was to get a batch made how many of you would be interested and what sort of money would you like to pay?

I can have them made in Alloy for extra cost.

They will come in primer or for extra cost top coated.

Can be chromed for extra cost.

Costs can be reduced if you dont mind drilling your own holes :D

Cheers

Well, to turn the question around:
What would it cost to make 10 in alloy?

Alloy would also not need coating/painting, and is relatively easy to drill your own holes in :D
Yes how much for each scenario mentioned?

One more question I need answering before I give my man the details, do you want round tube, bent to fit, or square tube, cut and welded to fit?

I really don't know. I'd want it to perform properly but looks are important. Who would know which method is best?

I would have thought it should be as straight as possible? What you are trying to achieve is resistance to the strut tops moving inwards/outwards. This force is likely to be a shock force I'd have thought, and a bent brace is more likely to deflect that a straight, welded one. Wouldn't it?

Again, for the same reason would steel be better than alloy? Mind you that's not taking into account any under bonnet 'bling' effect! If it comes primed, I can always give it some colour top coat.

Cheers,
Mike.
