Hi,
My Triumph 2000 MK 2 has a standard s/s exhaust fitted at the moment . Which should I go for to upgrade C .Witor semi sport or full sport. Can I use the original S/S front pipe? Which is best?
Exhausts
Re: Exhausts
If your original stainless front pipe is 1 7/8", then it will fit ok. However if the angle of the end of the original front pipe with the centre section is very slightly different, although the original fits as a whole, it may throw the path of the replacement centre out slightly with a different make (ie CW's) which will be harder to correct the further along the system you go!
However, to ensure ease of / a precise fitment, I would go for the whole CW system. You could then sell the original as a complete system rather than centre and rear only (I would be reluctant to fit a stainless centre and back box to a mild steel front pipe due to different expansion rates and likelihood of exhaust gas leaks hence the suggestion to sell it as a complete system).
The CW semi sport is regarded as quieter inside the car than a sport especially on an estate. Dave B on here has a 2500 saloon with a sport centre section, and there isn't any more notable noise inside the car than on my S which has a semi sport CW system.
The CW tailpipe / back box has a lovely straight six exhaust note without being 'boy racerish'. I would stick with the 1 7/8" rather than the bigger 2 1/4" bore back box.
If yours still has the mild steel rear hanger through the box section, then I would get CW's stainless version - he does them as a complete kit. I would also get his front clamp - don't be tempted to use any mild steel U clamps which can distort the pipe and only mount on one nut as opposed to the double band type which clamp evenly around the whole circumference of the pipe.
Just my thoughts!
