Was not quite sure which section for this one - General , Electrical...so i put in here anyway!! This idea came from a video i recently viewed with an owner with an Estate who has fitted one.
I know i am trying to keep it stock as best i can, but this is one gimmick i think i could live with, as i am totally blind on the nearside, the mirror is 100% useless, unless i want to see the size of the next black cloud. Really difficult to judge getting back in the garage tight to that side without shaving down the rubbing strip.
Has anyone else fitted one, if so which one,and do they all have to be drilled into the boot, which i am not to keen on? I know i could just as easily pop up to Halfrauds for advice, but wanted to ask on here first.
Regards,Nige.

Just to include the word 'Performance' on why i put it here, i could say ' i could reverse faster if i could see where i was going'

Re: Rear view camera
I’ve got one that I might fit to my saloon PI I actually bought it for another car but sold the car before I fitted it. The camera itself is like a long threaded bolt with the lens on the end and is angled down slightly. I thought about drilling a hole below the boot lid just above the number plate and to the left or right of the boot lock.
Ideally you need the camera to see the edge of the bumper so you can judge relative to what you are reversing up to.
I bought the monitor separately it’s one of those that folds down I will dig it out the garage later and post a photo of it.

Re: Rear view camera
Hi, no i have not got that far yet, although i have been to halfrauds for a chat - the guy i spoke to seems to think as i want something more in the way of looking down the side of the car, rather than the actual rear, a camera will probably not really help. I have however been looking at these period 'clip on ' rectangle type mirrors, that seem to clip on to the front quarterlight chrome....I asked one seller how it actually clips on, and can the window still be used when it is fitted - he did not know?!?! So i'm not sure what to do there either !!!!

Re: Rear view camera
One of our local members has one on his 2000 saloon. It fastens to the vertical chrome quarter window channel by two bolts and a clamp block (no drilling). Both the front drop glass and quarterlight operate as normal.

Re: Rear view camera
Ah ok, thats a positive then, i might go ahead and try one. Couple of really nice cars there. One thing about this issue - why would the n/s mirror of been mounted so low that it is virtually useless from the driving position. Are they all fitted at the same height on the door? I have to release my seatbelt and be albut in the passenger seat to have any form of a decent view down the n/s.
