parts list

#1 Post by valencia » Wed Nov 16, 2022 9:05 am

Does anyone have a copy of the parts list for the early Mk2's, I only have the 1975 onwards book and my car is nov 69, I can see a couple on ebay but I don't know if they are too early, is this one the correct front cover ?

That is the Mk1 parts list. The one you really need is titled Triumph 2000 & 2.5 PI Mk2. It is the same folder type as the Mk1 catalogue rather than the bound book used on the 1975 on edition. I have all three!

Although Charles is correct in what he says, there were a couple of editions of a bound version of the early Mk2 parts catalogue upto 1974
Here's a photo of the Mk2 ring binder type ( like the Mk1)

Here is a photo of one of the earlier editions of the bound version (part no has an A after the part no.), although good examples of these are getting hard to find as the cover isn't as robust as the ring binder type. There is a later edition of this with a B at the end of the part no.
There are then of course several editions of the facelift models from 1974, but not all parts are applicable to your early Mk2....

I'll correct myself, it's still there ! Just hiding further down the page,
BTW, I've managed to order pushrods 8" off Mick Dolphin, they are certainly a rare item.
cheers,
Michael

That's a good find from Mick Dolphin - good you have got sorted. Did you progressed the rocker misalignment with Rimmers or have you solved the issue?

Either of the above will suffice Michael - it's just the ring binder version is probably easier to find in good condition.

That is the one. That is not in such good condition and says several pages missing. You may find a better one given a little time.

One thing to check buying the ring binder type - the metal rings rust if stored badly, and it marks the loose leaf pages and outer hard back cover, and with rough handling the metal spine with the rings (which is secured to the hard backed cover with rivets) comes away. If you look closely on the one on that listing you can see this has happened to that one.
There will be better ones around if you are patient!

I've made a lower offer on the mk2 list but it's rejected so I'm leaving that one, like you say -keep looking and something will turn up, it's condition was a little poor.
I've not managed to resolve the rocker issue with Rimmers, they say that they sell a lot each year with no complaints and asked me have I fitted them on to the shaft inverted, (I think they mean switched the forward for the rear one) but if I did that I think the rocker pad would miss the top of the valve stem altogether,I told them that.
So the plan is for the time being wait for Mick Dolphins pushrods, put it all together and see, if the rods still foul the head casting I'll be putting the extra washers in to shim them into position, I've said to Rimmers I'll send a picture when I've fitted everything but I think I'm stuck with what I've got realistically, and I want the car back in use really.
Thanks everyone,
Michael
