New Wipers Needed
The wiper blades need replacing, can someone confirm the correct length for a Mk2 PFL saloon. I ask because the drivers one protrudes out beyond the glass by about an inch when parked.
Also what’s the best source for blades mounted in stainless steel arms.

Re: New Wipers Needed
They are classed as 14" - although in reality, they are a little shorter.
Trico were one of the original fitments. Bear in mind there are two sizes of retaining clip where it fastens to the arm - they look similar, but you want the wider fitting.
You see cars fitted with black blades for more modern cars, which don't look right in my opinion on a Triumph.
How about these on Ebay? Item no. 362338737137
A bargain at £10.99 including postage for a new pair!

Re: New Wipers Needed
I found that with 14" blades I was looking through unwiped area above the rubber, so used 15" last time expecting another 1/2" extra wiped area.
In practice due to offset on the blades it was more like 3/4" extra - just enough for a view in the rain!

Re: New Wipers Needed
Thanks guys. Need to measure what’s on the car now.

Re: New Wipers Needed
We replace a lot of bus one's at work. All different sizes. We normally buy a box of long one's and just cut them to length. I've used a couple on the Triumph and they work ok.

Re: New Wipers Needed
Should the blades be flat or curved?
What was origionally fitted?

Re: New Wipers Needed
Off the car, the blades appear quite curved, as the two halves of the blade are sprung by the mounting clip. The 'legs' within the blade help spread the tension across their length. This spring pressure allows the blade to follow any curvature of the windscreen, with the spring tension in the arm ensuring the blade stays against the windscreen. When connected to the arm, and in position on the car, the passenger side will sit straight, and the drivers will sit slightly curved, following the curvature of the windscreen towards the 'A' pillar.
Does that make sense?

Re: New Wipers Needed
Perfect sense, thanks, the first sentence points me in the right direction!
Mine are flat and miss the screen on the right where it curves round.

Re: New Wipers Needed
Even with the original Trico blades that are curved when lifted from the screen, the curvature of the windscreen is such that even they don't always fully contact the screen on the lower right hand side.

Re: New Wipers Needed
JD, do you mean n/s on a r/h drive vehicle? The last 10 deg's on the N/S is the only area that the original Trico would miss. Whilst I have some Trico's on at the moment I don't know if they are true 70's manufactured. Trico source all of their wiper blades from China (as far as I am aware).
