Re: Poor braking
The one annoying thing for me re brakes since getting it back on the road is the 'shhhh shhhhh shhhhh ' from what seems like every corner each time we take it out for a trip around the town !!! It eases slightly after a short while, but is still there. Park it up. Next trip, maybe 3 or 5 weeks late...

Re: Stag front brakes
I just put a trailer hitch on my '75 2500S Estate. I was concerned about engine pulling power and never even considered braking performance! I've ordered all the bits to install the Stag dual brake system, but this only makes it safer, not better brakes. So, I started following this thread and fran...

Re: Stag front brakes
When you consider that modern car manufacturers recommend new discs every third pad change, taking out the upsell aspect of it, the quality of the original Triumph brake discs must have been far superior in quality to todays modern brake discs. The moderns certainly rust (surface) quicker. Wonder i...

Re: Bonnet Support Arm.
Hi, I have recently purchased a 1978 Triumph 2500S and the Bonnet Support Arm bracket on the bonnet is a bit of a mess. Would anybody have any ideas on upgrading this bracket. Bob White. I've got this same issue and hope we can sort it between us. Thanks Valencia for your input. Will also e-mail th...

Re: Overdrive ID
Thanks for that post Charles. I guessed it would be in the 73/74 era but hoped for something more definite. Need to look at a Dolomite parts book next maybe?

Re: Why no love for autos?
That is real interesting, as i always buck the trend/ never follow the sheep over the cliff edge - i love my lazy auto. I really didn't like the BW35 I had in a Stag, the RPM was too high at motorway speeds, not great for a Grand Tourer really, I had a ZF 4sp auto fitted and it transformed the car,...

Overdrive ID
Hi all, Anyone with a 1973-1975 parts book? My 1978 one does not show part number 313241. The part is a GKN Laycock overdrive. The cardboard it is wrapped in has Dolomite Sprint written on it with felt marker. Inside, tied to the o/d is a luggage label with 313241 2.5pi written on it. The GKN metal ...

Re: Why no love for autos?
I don’t mind auto cars per se, my moderns have been auto for 15 yrs now, the BW35 isn’t great though, I had my Stag converted to ZF and it transformed the car, a much better high speed performance. Might be wrong after 40 years of the demise of Triumph but was not the BW35 box for the USA market on...
