Original water pumps do come apart and are serviceable, I have one ready to go onto the 2.5l motor going into my Estate. Glad to hear you're pleased with it, I have the same fitted to my Mk2 PI Saloon and another one ready to go on my Mk1 Estate when I swap the engine for a 2.5 unit soon.

Thank Ian, but still a bit of a conundrum! I was informed once that yellow paint on the output shaft was 2000 and red was 2500 but I’m not sure that rings true now. I think as it’s stamped M 3 4 on the back plate casing I’ll assume it’s a 3.4 (2500) just a shame you can’t tell for certain from the ...
