Re: Heater valve
Hi, Sorry I've not been quicker. The original valve to allow the water to flow through the matrix is stuck/siezed in the open position, so I put the gate valve in the pipe at the back of the cylinder head, consequently I can't control it from inside the car. If I had not fitted the gate valve I have...

Re: Heater valve
Admittedly, it's a very awkward job. The valve on my car has been stuck for as long as I've owned it (1981). I took the easy way out of a gate valve in-line, it's open in winter, closed when it's properly hot weather and just cracked open the rest of the time for a bit of demisting. It would be nice...

Re: Front sill area - any thoughts
That is really good work with the new inner strengthener section, I did mine in 1988, I had to make everything by hand, although CW sold me a pair of stanpart outer sills.

Re: Death rattle on trying to start
I don't have an automatic Triumph personally, but as you have observed the starter ring appears to be the wrong way round. I expect an owner of an auto will be along soon with their opinions but to make a proper assessment all the components will have to be removed. Regarding replacement parts I fin...

Re: Rear hubs & drive shafts
Great progress that and the new and stronger shafts with the later modification should be fine, the new cv shafts I'm told are excellent but the old Triump design has worked well for many of us for many years. It's all down to correct assembly, and although I've added a grease nipple to mine, your's...

Re: Rear hubs & drive shafts
I agree about the mileage, it's hardly anything when you consider that many of our cars are still on original units, my car (1969) which I've owned since 1981 I assume will be on the originals, the only repair they have had is the outer offside uj, nothing else. I don't know the full mileage but the...

MOT all over again !
I have copied and paste this from MSN which said it was from the Daily Telegraph. I don't think 2 and a bit out of 5 is a majority, and only 1000 respondants but is the Federation of Historic vehicles aware? Classic cars could become subject to MOT-style safety checks after a majority of the public ...

Re: winter storage/preservation
Thanks Forkie, you are spot on about the effects of damp air and there's plenty of that where I live in Lancashire ! I covered the car with a large dust sheet and numerous sets of old curtains a few weeks ago when it was very cold but dry, whereas if I'd have waited for the warmer wetter days to ret...
