Re: Club Tooling Fund

Just briefly, I would support panels before anything else. They are the most essential item and what is likely to see our cars off the road if we cannot get replacements.
We should have an article in Six Appeal to broaden the debate and gauge support.

front strut refurb.

Have any of you replaced your front strut inserts as opposed to the just installing a complete unit ?
I am having a problem screwing the collar down far enough to hold the insert in place. Even when the collar goes below the top of the tube and becomes tighter the insert still moves about. Does ...

Re: Drive-line vibration

Check the propshaft by all means but how about the gearbox mount for security and overall condition.

Re: tv ad

Thanks for all your answers, I'll get the struts out and see. They have not been moved since 1993 so they must be due a look.

tv ad

I've just seen a Hovis ad on TV, it goes through various decades and the 70's features the briefest of glimpses of a dark blue saloon, mk2, as it drives past a wedge type Austin Princess. Nice to know that someone out there thinks about our cars.
Also, I've just finished replacing the clutch and ...

Re: Release Bearing

Hi there,
I cannot imagine why depressing the clutch pedal 3 times would in some way cause the breakage of the bearing or plate. Possibly you could have a problem with the peg that locates the clutch fork to the cross shaft, did you check the condition of the peg before re-assembly ?
Of course you ...

Re: Automatic 3.7:1 diff

I think a 3.7 will be fine on a manual. I use one on my early (1969) 2000 mainly because Rimmers
sent me the wrong diff during one of their sales promotions. It was cheap for a rebuilt part so I kept it. I like it because I now tend to hold the individual gears a bit longer.
I also did use a 3.45 as ...

Re: Rocker shaft oil boost

Thanks for your help everyone, I wont bother with it this device, and I wouldn't like to lose my existing gauge and warning light setup anyway. I only paid £8.00 for it off another guy at a car rally over the weekend so it's not a great loss.
Thanks again.

Rocker shaft oil boost

I'm having difficulty fitting a rocker shaft oil feed booster kit. I understand that one end fits to the back of the cylinder head but I am unsure where to fit the other end. Incidentally, I already have a t-piece fitted to the engine block for the pressure sender and an oil pressure gauge.
Is there ...

I had a similar problem on my 2000.  As there were two new thrust washers in the kit I decided to use one new and one old washer.  This reduced the end float towards the bottom of the range.  This was 12 years ago, it has not caused a problem.
