Re: Rear hubs & drive shafts
I agree about the mileage, it's hardly anything when you consider that many of our cars are still on original units, my car (1969) which I've owned since 1981 I assume will be on the originals, the only repair they have had is the outer offside uj, nothing else. I don't know the full mileage but ...

MOT all over again !
I have copied and paste this from MSN which said it was from the Daily Telegraph. I don't think 2 and a bit out of 5 is a majority, and only 1000 respondants but is the Federation of Historic vehicles aware?
Classic cars could become subject to MOT-style safety checks after a majority of the public ...

Re: winter storage/preservation
Thanks Forkie,
you are spot on about the effects of damp air and there's plenty of that where I live in Lancashire ! I covered the car with a large dust sheet and numerous sets of old curtains a few weeks ago when it was very cold but dry, whereas if I'd have waited for the warmer wetter days to ...

Re: winter storage/preservation
Thanks Clifford,
you have made it sound all nice and easy, so maybe I'm worrying a bit too much. The rodents don't seem to be a problem in my garage maybe as I'm in there quite a lot (or so my wife claims!) . I'll keep on top of the pedals as well and try and squeeze in the occasional run out too ...

winter storage/preservation
I was just wondering now that the bad weather is upon us and many Triumphs might going into hibernation for a few months, how do others store and preserve the car over winter, I often have trouble with a stuck clutch slave cylinder and corrosion on the brake discs, I try to mitigate the clutch issue ...

Re: Idling an Auto...
Why did the rear wheels of the BMW need to be off the ground ? Does this imply that it was in drive rather than neutral ? I have an auto BMW, I always move straight off, only because I'll be late for work if I don't!
No such thing as an odd question.

Re: Alternator
Thanks Mike,
You're quite correct, I've had 5/16 unc off Ebay and they're spot on, it's good to have the proper sizes, and as you say, the Land Rovers tend to be a mixture of fittings.
I wanted it correct as I'm off on a long continental journey soon, and i don't want any problems.

Re: Alternator
Thanks Mike, I didn't want to order bolts when I wasn't sure of the size, I've done that too often in the past and ended up with a collection unused whitworths for my S1 Land Rover.
