Re: Jaguar 420 IRS in a '72 PI - purists look away!
This is great engineering, just what I like. Just not sure this isn't going to twist. The Triumph box sections and diff rear mounts are cruciformed at four parts of the chassis. Is the metal work in the center of the body substantial enough. Just mouthing off - as I tend to do.

Re: MB blocks
MB 42669 ? Does Andy say these are external breather until MB 70000. By external breather I mean a pressed steel part connected to the outside of the block ( just behind the fuel pump ) I assume later blocks had more drillings / holes lower down, so as to allow breathing up through the rocker cover.
Re: MB blocks
Hi Colin, I need one (or two) MB block 1967-8. These are the lightest that will take a 2.5L crank, despite the short 2L bores. I've been looking for years - but of course distance / transport is the problem !

Re: Wheels on the 4x4 Estate
Take the tires off and sand the inner rims with a flexible rubber disc - stick on 80 grit is best. This must end up perfectly clean. Hammerite is no good for aluminum, it just flakes off. You must then paint using a special primer. Even rubbing down the first coat can help with a good seal. It is ...
MB blocks
In my quest to buy a MB block, I nearly ended up with an early ( narrow bearing / external breather ) MB. What commission number did these end at; and why didn't they change the number to MC or something, when they changed the casting. MB must have originated from the Standard Vanguard.

Re: Original Mk1 PI fuel pump set-up
Bosch is not more reliable. I use a later ( swirlpot ) tank and have no real issues with the Lucas set up on my Mk1; it can be injectors / fuel surge / heat / volts; a dashboard pressure gauge gives peace of mind. But as the first, in 1992? to fit a Facet feeder pump .... that is highly recommended.

Scrap gearbox
WANTED. I need a gearbox rear adapter plate / to A type o/d. After a successful dummy run ( aligning up the second, rearmost set of splines - no springs ) then trying several times to bolt the thing together, I decided it needed a bit more force ! and broke the adapter plate. The correct method ...

Re: Best Springs for Handling?
Then you should see how road and rally cars ( modern or not ) are modified. Spherical top mounts / helper springs / lowered springs / different shocks / coolers / four pot callipers / vented discs / aeroquip hoses / metal suspension joints / spacers / wide alloy offset wheels / semi slick tyres ...
