Hi Luke
It's good not to buy the first car you see :D I'm still surprised it was a TC as late as '77 though rather than an S.
The TSOA South Australia http://www.tsoasa.com/ should be able to help you... gorgeous MK1 Estate on the home page.
I've seen some very nice cars come up in SA over the ...

Re: Buying a 1978 2500 tc
Yes, Luke - what Canberra Triumph said.
A 1978 model can only be an 'S' rather than a TC, so it would be interesting to see what the car is.
Engine number and commission should begin MM ... if not then the engine has been replaced and you might want to ask questions. Likewise it should have 1.75 ...

Re: Stoneleigh March 9th.
Stoneleigh was my first ever Triumph show - when I lived in the UK I used to love it! Lots of bargains to be had.
There's a real buzz at Stoneleigh - I reckon it should be called "Springtime for Triumphs" - suddenly everyone comes out of their winter doldrums and those who aren't all-year-rounders ...

Re: TR6 wheels
Also has anyone ever tried putting Saab 900 seats in a 2500...they seem narrow enough
Having owned very late 900 and 9000 cars and found their seats to be very good I visited a yard to measure them up ... I'm afraid it looked like they were slightly too wide.
I also looked at some nice ...

Re: TR6 wheels
I know of a Mk1 with a Mk2 rear sub-frame that has TR6 wheels which were once on a Mk2... however, these have been modified in some way to fit. Not sure how exactly, though, something to do with reversing the centre. They look good. I like the TR6 wheels.

Re: Ignition Timing
I wonder if 2500S distributors are different? The consensus seems to be that 2000 vacuum units are difficult to operate by sucking on the pipe. I'm not convinced that it indicates a problem.
In my time I've sucked on various distributors  My GT6 had a 25D6 with electric tacho, the S ...

Re: Bogging and misfiring
Have you got an in-line filter in the fuel line? If not, then it's time to fit one! You've probably got sludge in your tank or lines.

Re: Ignition Timing
I think this thread shows just how shot a lot of people's distributors must be!
Lucas ones don't seem to last too well. Tend to develop a fair amount of lateral wear in the shaft. Remove the rotor arm and move from side-to-side. I've got a reconditioned one next to me and there's no ...

Re: Australian-built cars
well I can almost smell Port Melbourne from here, but I'm pretty sure AMI doesn't exist in the form it did when they were knocking out saloons.

Re: compression ratios and supercharging
Andrew Avis in Queensland has a supercharged PI (or did when I met him). He didn't do it himself but he would be worth contacting:
