Re: Clutch judder
I've had this problem or very similar, with two Triumphs in the past. The first was with one I'd changed myself, produced almost undrivable kangeroo-ing when pulling away. I took it to a garage, complete with a new box of replacement kit, and they found that I had left out a tiny steel pin about 1/2...

Re: Tow bar or not Tow bar…..
I once pushed in the same point on my previous 2000, including putting a crumple in the wing. I used a bottle jack in the boot between the bulkhead and the bumper mounting, suitably cushioned with blocks of timber, and to my surprise the whole rear section just pushed straight back into place. The w...

Re: mk1 boot seal 2025
The Mk1 and Mk2 types appear to differ, in that the boot aperture has a lip which I assume is accomodated by the groove in the Chris Witor picture, whereas the boot lid itself is smooth with no lip. So the Mk1 fitting would be dependent on the glue to hold the seal in position, whereas the Mk2 kind ...

Re: Acceleration stops at 50mph - max speed=50mph
after turning mixture screw of rear carb anti clockwise, apparently to weaken mixture. As someone has said before - it's upside down. Anticlockwise, as looked at from underneath, lowers the jet seating, so enrichening the mixture. (It's like a tap in a length of hose - it still opens anticlockwise ...

Re: New fuel cap
That doesn't look anything like mine. Mine doesn't turn - you engage it in the right orientation and then turn the key in the centre and a projecting lug locks it.

Re: winter storage/preservation
I often find clutch and brake master cylinders can have a momentary stiffness when first operating after a long period of disuse. It's not a bad idea just to press the pedals occasionaly. Leave a window open a few inches to let a bit of air in to circulate (I'm assuming yours is garaged). I find lea...

Re: Re- fitting drivers side parcel shelf
, I bought my 1st Triumph - a 1967 gunmetal Mk1 2000 in September 1974, so just coming up to 50 years ago. Sadly, it's now probably many razor blades. I bought my first car, a 1947 Triumph Roadster 1800, in 1967, for £40. I was still at school, just taking A-levels. I sold it in 1978 for £650. I se...

Re: Front brakes not releasing
Forkie, there's some misunderstanding here. I'm so sorry if I've offended you - I'm certainly not taking the micky, merely speculating as to how brakes are meant to retract, and why the standard explanations are not completely convincing. But you have it seems made it work by reversing the washer, s...

Re: Front brakes not releasing
Sorry about the animation. It worked when I tried it a day after I posted the link, but now for some reason it doesn't. Anyway, what it showed was the inner side of the groove for each piston at a slant, ie the groove was wider at the opening but was narrower at the bottom. The result was that under...

Re: Fuelpump spacer or not?
I've an idea that this engine when used in other cars - Vitesse, TR6 etc - has a "long-lever" variant of the pump which does require a spacer.
