Re: Poor braking
My daughter drives in the very same way Forkie. Foot down, there's a roundabout, foot down, brake - HARD! I think this modern method was sponsored by brake component manufacturers. Seriously though, it doesn't make for a smooth ride and is unnecessarily harsh on the car, road surface and fuel consum...

Re: Poor braking
Thanks to all for so much useful information. Both calipers had a stuck piston. Try as I might to exercise them, they were not budging which meant plan B - get some calipers was put in to action. Calipers arrived but life got in the way however, we have progress! Both have been fitted alongside Gree...

Re: Poor braking
Thanks G15. The calipers are still out of stock so I've ordered new pads and fitting kit. In the meantime, I'll gently try to coax the pistons from their home and see if they remember what they're supposed to do.
Cheers.

Re: Poor braking
Just got down and dirty with the front end and can report that the offside caliper has one stuck piston and the other is reluctant to move but will do so under duress. As this needs replacing - I once tried to rebuild a caliper and vowed never again - I'll also replace the nearside to maintain balan...

Re: Poor braking
Thanks all. The car pulls up straight but the pedal needs an awful lot of pressure. It does slow and stop but it doesn't inspire any confidence when driving and I'm sure my right thigh is now larger than my left! Hopefully I'll get some time in the next couple of days when I can take the wheels off ...

Poor braking
Hello, just asking a question - should the brakes on a 2500S be as bad as mine are? I've had a Toledo, a Mk iv Spitfire and a couple of TR7s all of which had very good brake systems, almost on a par with a modern vehicle however my 2500 has brought on some hairy moments owing to its inability to slo...

New exhaust fitted
Hello all, just had a Chris Witor semi-sport exhaust fitted to my 2500S. Experience has shown how quickly these types of job can turn turtle so I asked a small, local garage to fit it and they were more than pleased to do so. I'm glad I did. 2 studs sheared off on the manifold - fortunately, I order...

Belated hello!
Time to say hello. I'm Steve and have recently purchased a 2500S auto. I'm not new to classic cars but this is my first after nearly 15 years - it was a Stag that finally did for me! Have had a number of Jensens in the past and now been priced out of the market so I looked around for something else ...
