Re: Acceleration stops at 50mph - max speed=50mph
I recently discussed what we put in our output dashpots at a car meet. For me it’s always been 3 in 1 oil. One guy preferred TQF (PAS/Auto fluid). The other guy used ordinary 20/50 mineral oil. I recently refurbed my twin SU HS6’s and talking to Burlens the guy recommended their stuff but agreed 3 i...

Re: PAS rack question
Hi Forkie I fitted a new PAS rack to my 2500TC last year. The old one was the original (1976) and leaking badly. I considered having a go at refurbing it myself but when I looked into what was required it worked out cheaper and easier to exchange it for an already refurbished one. I ended up getting...

Re: Acceleration stops at 50mph - max speed=50mph
Have you checked the valve rocker shaft and rocker/valve clearances? I had a lack of power problem recently and it was a broken rocker. Quite a few of the oilways were blocked. A new rocker and a strip down and cleaning the rocker shaft and rocker oilways sorted the problem. Checking fuel and igniti...

Re: Rear Wheel hub & bearings.
Hello Alec Thanks for your comprehensive reply on this. It’s interesting to know how others have handled the situation. Like me, they are probably knocking on a bit and not as agile! I think if I had all the Churchill tools required I’d be confident to have a go. Whilst my facilities are limited to ...

Rear Wheel hub & bearings.
Does anyone have the tools for dismantling rear hubs and changing the wheel bearings? It looks quite specialised. Looking at the manual they quote references to Churchill tools. I know they supplied a lot of the tooling for BL and most UK garages had their tools on a the wall in their workshops back...

Re: Rear shock absorbers
I have fitted all new rubber bushes to my front suspension & steering and I used the standard poly bushes from CW. I will be doing the rear trailing arm ones next. I must say that it was only one bush that was badly worn, the rest were in reasonable condition considering they were 47 years old!

Re: Re- fitting drivers side parcel shelf
I have this trouble also. My one is not particularly good and I have to remove it soon to get the clutch master cylinder out. I managed to get hold of a second hand one in a bit of a state and thought about modifying the back section. This is riveted on and I am thinking about taking out the rivets ...

Re: Removing water marks in cellulose paint
I have always used car shampoo mainly Turtlewax but these days I generally just use the Halfords own make. Followed by a real leather dry off. With regard to wax as Johnnydog said it is mainly silicon based these days. Years ago I knew a body repair guy and for a final finish he used to use Mr Sheen...
