Hi Simon,
For what it’s worth I bought a small fuel pressure gauge (£30) and plumbed it in using some oil pressure gauge tubing and fittings.
It’s permanently in place in the boot and is small enough that it’s a push fit into the finger hole to lift the section of boot floor over the fuel pump ...

Re: Door hinge pins
Thanks for your reply, Pete.
I used your design to make my removal tool but had to work with what I had to hand. I’ll make another with thicker bar and more robust bar sections at each end.

Door hinge pins
I currently have the doors of my car removed for spraying and have noticed that both the front door hinges are very wobbly.
Consequently I’m trying to source some new hinge pins but none seem to be available from the usual sources. Does anyone know of any supplier who has them in stock or even the ...

Re: Getting cranky
Hi Simon,
That’s great news.
I’ve always found that, with the engine running and the dripping injector out, just tapping the injector on the manifold will often get it working properly

Re: Getting cranky
Hi Simon,
I didn’t use any special tools when I changed mine a couple of months ago.
To be honest I couldn’t really see why they would be required although I may be missing something.
Anywat the engine seems to run perfectly.

Re: Getting cranky
Hi Simon,
Glad you found the problem.
Don’t be too hasty to replace your metering unit.
Mine was seized after not being used for thirty five years but the shuttle components freed up (I had to tap them out) and after a thorough clean and replacement of the diaphragm and injector port seals it works ...

Re: Getting cranky
Hi Simon,
There’s a chance that you might have sheared the plastic drive dog between the metering unit and distributor which may explain why you’re getting fuel to the metering unit but not from the injector ports or lines. Unfortunately you’ll have to remove the metering unit from the drive ...

Re: Oil pressure
Hi Alec,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, the car has been standing for twenty five years.
I’ll strip and clean the oil pressure relief valve and then see what happens once it’s back on its wheels and being driven.

Oil pressure
My engine oil pressure, when fully warmed up, albeit on axle stands, is 60 psi at tick over which increases to nearly 100 psi when revved. Is this too high and if so what should I consider looking at apart from the oil pressure relief valve?
Thanks.
Thanks.
