I had a bad oil leak from the large core plug at the back of the block following a rebuild, turned out that some of the "Triumph 2000 full engine set core plugs" as it said on the packet were not a particularly good fit, only apparent when the engine was re-installed and running-gearbox came out ag...

Sounds like the rear seal, but get them to check the sump gasket at the rear. Quite often can be nipped up. Oil from here drips off the rear plate that the gearbox attaches to.

Not sure. I haven't had the car long so haven't changed the oil yet. It's going in on Thursday so I'm going to ask for an oil change GL4 I think I have to use and fot the filter to be cleaned out. Fingers crossed it makes a difference.

Hello oil. My 2000 has a decent oil leak from underneath, decent enough that i am topping it up with oil regularly. Appears worse when hot as expected. Hello everyone. I've got a 1973 2000, not sure what overdrive unit it has in it I'm afraid. Just wanted to know is it normal for it to take a while for the overdrive to lick in when the car is cold?
