Re: Front brakes not releasing
Right - the very latest straight off the press !! Had an unexpected early day. Ideal - carry on with the tests then. All pads back in, all have free movement. Have not applied footbrake at all during this ' manual' stage of freeing up the pads, pistons back in etc. Got another new pad fitting kit to...

Re: Front brakes not releasing
Would you happen to know the thread size where the brake pipe screws in ? We are wondering if we could fit any random caliper that has the same thread as the brake pipe, just to see if that caliper backs off as it should, which would then MAYBE give us an inkling that it IS the calipers at fault bef...

Re: Front brakes not releasing
Yes i got what you meant with the width, and they have plenty movement when inserted. Well yes if i had a pair of original callipers and pads they would be going on for sure, but unfortunately i dont. I will carry on with some more tests ( although all i think that i can do is swap the non return va...

Re: Front brakes not releasing
A complete top to bottom rebuild a few years ago of a Vauxhall 2.5 V6 engine prooved to be ' challenging' to say the least, but at least it worked afterwards. Sticking a set of new pads into a pair of Recon calipers into a T 2500 for the brakes to back off after application is an even bigger task ho...

Re: Front brakes not releasing
And our ' better halves' scowl at us men for keeping ' all this junk'. How much now do i regret throwing away those ancient, cracked, glazed and so hard original pads for new pads, , and for sending away its original calipers for ' better, newer reconditioned ' ones. What id give now to have all tha...

Re: Trailing arm bushes
Just noticed this thread. I removed my original rubber bushes successfully several years ago now using the threaded bar method but with the arms off the car, that was hard enough, could not imagine trying to do it ' in situ'. I THINK at the time i hacksawed through to remove the excess that sticks o...

Re: Front brakes not releasing
Hi John. Yes, the ideas, suggestions are certainly running out - along with my patience, for what should be such a really simple task. New pads, fitted into recon calipers ( along with all the other many, many new parts) to replace the ancient, dacades old original parts, but which did actually work...

Re: Front brakes not releasing
So back here again. So i will carry on my findings from when i replied to Alec earlier regarding releasing bleed nipple had no effect. N/S/ F - wheel removed, disc was not free to turn easily. Fitting kit removed - outer pad fairly free, barely no dust. Inboard pad solid - no movement at all, fair b...

Re: HS6 rebuild kit/ needle option
Hi Bill, the top tips are coming through now !!!! I think as i have hijacked my own ' Carb rebuild ' thread it would make more sense if i go back to my original ' Front brakes not releasing ' thread...

Re: HS6 rebuild kit/ needle option
Hi Alec, thanks for that tip - so just tried that on the O/S/F - no difference. Before i did that however i did jack up O/S/R just to see and although it does not appear to rubbing it was a tad hard to tell as it is turning the prop. Pads out next i think, back the pistons home to both fronts, fit t...
