Right, alternator brushes now replaced. Cheaper than a new alternator. I did the job without removing the alternator from the car, and once I had the socket sizes (supplied by my assistant - see first picture) the job was fairly simple. I have noticed recently that when lights etc. are turned on that my fuel guage reading drops, I had thought it might be the voltage regulator, but in the rain yesterday I noticed that with lights on and braking the indicators failed to work. Wonder if this is the reason my fuel gauge underreads when my lights* are turned on......

My understanding is that it is only the 95RON fuels going to E10, the higher octane ones will stay E5.

As Mike says, book timing values are now redundant as the fuel now is nothing like the fuel of the 60s/70s.

Get it started and do the pinking tests to get the best settings.

Fortunately this means driving it!
