I have the Alfa 156 seats in my MkI, and I have to say it is by far the most comfortable of cars I have ever driven. I can happily wallop the miles out with no need for rests due to sore muscles.
I am also fitting the rear seats from the 156 in my car, need a bit of modifying to fit properly but ...

Front/Rear Spring Choices
What are people's thoughts regarding spring rates between front and back?
Obviously I understand that I over time I can try different rates on the front and rear to find a setup that suits, but what is a good starting point? As far as I know I have uprated 1" lower springs on the rear, though I ...

Stromberg CD150 issues
From the start:
MOT was out and I had been having continued running issues with my Mk1. A couple of months ago I purchased some rebuild kits.
Now, just come back from my last work assignment, so I rebuilt the carbs. Discovered along the way that throttle spindles were goosed, so also ordered new ...

Re: Fuel Tank Replacement
Hi Alex,
My apologies, I have created a slight mis-understanding there!
I am not intending to copy per sae a Spitfire tank, merely use any available drawing as a guide for designing a saloon specific tank.
Basically I wish to make something that contains everything inside, so I don't need ...

Fuel Tank Replacement
Well, I have succumbed to the usual problem of rusty particles blocking my fuel system.
I know I can have the tank cleaned and proofed, and I may well do a temporary job on the tank to keep the car running, however as I intend on going to EFI anyway I am looking at getting a new custom tank made ...

Re: Starter Motor
Quite right, however the looseness had a much more drastic effect on the end bushing in the end!! It really did not sound nice when I tightened it up and tested it!

Re: Starter Motor
I fully agree with all you guys. If I was to base on the original starter then everything looked gloomy right enough, but that one was shagged!! As in it made very nasty grinding noises when it turned! (In it's defence, I suspect it is the original starter from new as well, so that is 49 years of ...

Swap has been done, and the red shed has never spun so fast and easily in the 3 years I have owned her! High torque is def not required for the time being.

Re: Starter Motor
Good point Charles.
As it happens, someone on CT forum has just pointed out that it is the same as the Herald and Spitfire starter, and I happen to have a Herald 13/60 sat on the drive waiting full restoration, so some swapping is about to occur!!
Cheers,
Phil

Starter Motor
Well, I have had a quick look around, and seem to have gotten myself more confused than when I started!!
Basically, my starter has all but packed in on my Mk1 2000. It is of the inertia type.
Now, when I come to remove it today I discovered that the two nuts/bolts holding it too the bellhousing ...
