Re: New heating pipe olive
Just in addition to the above - when you do get the other pieces and get round to fitting them, do a dry fit first (without compressing the olive!) as you may need to trim down the length of the return pipe at the water pump end.

Re: New heating pipe olive
It's a simple compression fitting. However, besides the stainless return pipe, I would suggest you get these as well from CW which form part of the fittings to the water pump housing - and they look better than the original steel versions! Re: Front brakes not releasing
It's this aspect across the pad I was referring to,; querying whether the paint thickness was too thick at the edges (at each end of the arrow).
These are genuine nos Lockheed pads incidentally.

Re: Front brakes not releasing
I bet you are totally frustrated with this Nige - I admire your ongoing perseverance though being honest!! Regarding the pads binding - I was thinking more of the paint thickness affecting the overall size of the backing plate when fitted between the top and bottom of the caliper (in a vertical plan...

Re: Front brakes not releasing
I am replying relative to your last comments that the n/s/f inner pad was tight and took some effort to be removed.... I have read through again (and read again!) all the posts relative to this and the fact that you described in your last post that the inner pad was very tight makes me wonder....you...

Re: Dread to ask…
All my Triumphs have the 'wasp nest' on the face of the timing cover - from my 1967 Mk1 through to my 1976 2500S. I've always understood it was probably a sound deadening measure for the timing chain, but it's not uncommon for them to become detached and fall off. I have a nos timing chain cover whi...

Re: Trailing arm bushes
To renew the bushes in situ, you still have to remove the bolts to the shackles and let the swinging arm drop. Then you have relatively restricted access to remove the bushes and insert the new ones. For the extra effort to remove the swinging arms completely (drum off, drive shaft out, slacken brak...

Re: HS6 rebuild kit/ needle option
I may have mentioned it previously in a topic somewhere, but I would also be looking at the flexible hose on the affected wheel. With age, the hoses can collapse internally, and when you depress the brake pedal, the normal brake effort required is sufficient to force brake fluid through the brake ho...

Just noticied too - it's got the earlier fuel, amp and temp gauges - the needle on facelift cars should swing from the bottom!
