Re: Carbs
The easiest way to differentiate between HS4's and HS6's is that HS6's have a a 4 stud mounting per carb on the inlet manifold, whereas HS4's only have a 2 stud mounting, which are in a different orientation (10-4 and 20-2 if that makes sense!) relative to Strombergs where the 2 stud mounting is the...

Re: mk1 boot seal 2025
No, the groove is just purely an aid to the rubber sealing as it is compressed against the raised lip on the aperture of both the Mk1 and Mk2 models. The groove doesn't fit over the raised lip. It is only the facelift models where the seal is pushed onto the lip itself - Mk1 and the pfl Mk2 are all ...

Re: For sale on Ebay - Triumph 2000 EST MKII
I think many people wanting a Triumph would be put off by the described severe corrosion in the car when it was unearthed from its garage after being laid up in 1984. With the best will in the world, on a budget, these extensive repairs would be very difficult to carry out properly, and once you sta...

Re: mk1 boot seal 2025
I've never actually done it myself, but to avoid working in an awkward position, removing the boot lid would probably make sense, especially as you would only have one go at getting it right with contact adhesives. Depending on the type of finish on your car, you need to use an adhesive that doesn't...

Re: mk1 boot seal 2025
Looking at Rimmers website, I agree - both are the type that push on the lip around the boot aperture. This type fit ok on the Mk2 saloon, but the Mk1 has more severe curves, which may / may not be an issue. Being a bit of a 'purist' myself, in my opinion, this type would not look right on a Mk1 or ...

Re: Quick introduction
Hi Simon, Hello and welcome to the Forum! I'm sure you will find a wealth of information here and within the Triumph 2000 Register! A LHD drive 2.5 PI sounds very interesting - especially as a friend of mine and a recent new member of the Register who lives near Manchester has also recently bought a...

Re: Acceleration stops at 50mph - max speed=50mph
Without going back through all the posts, have your HS6's got waxstats or red tipped jets? If it has got waxstats, then I would definately consider changing them to the red tip jets. Red tip HS6's seem much more reliable and are easier to work with. Have your throttle discs (butterflies) got the pop...

Re: Acceleration stops at 50mph - max speed=50mph
An uneven and irregular engine beat is usually a sign of a weak mixture - a regular hunting is usually associated with a rich mixture. Assuming the air flow to each carb is balanced and the throttle linkage is operating simultaneously on both, then I'd whip the pistons out of each carb and check the...
