Re: N/S outrigger
If the rest of the outrigger is solid, then welding a patch or letting a shaped piece of metal in would suffice in my opinion. However, the remainder needs to be very solid if you intend to fill the cavity with 'waxoyl' (not my personal preference, but that's another topic!) - any future welding in ...

Re: HS6 rebuild kit/ needle option
I can't see it being the diff - assuming we are talking about your 2500S, the ratio should be 3.45:1 (both auto and manual) - if it had been inadvertantly swapped for a 3.7 or 4.1, then I think you would have noticied. It would be revving excessively especially with a 4.1 To put that out of the equa...

Re: Sill progress
Excellent work. Looking good. When I was much younger, I had a succession of the original Minis, which tended to rust on the seams between the front wing and front panel. I did numerous repairs on them in that area over the years of ownership, which involved a thin skimming of body filler. I then us...

Re: Front strut top mount sealer strip
I have used Dum Dum previously for that purpose. It's none hardening and seals the top of the mounting against water ingress. It's been around for donkeys years, and available in tins. Roll out 3 sausage shapes to go round the top of the mount and fit! It's black in colour - doubt anyone will be loo...

Re: Handbrake
Unusual, in my experience! However, making something suitable that will stay in place, but also move to depress the pin might be challenging?
As your carpets are up, I would have thought it would be easier to fit a replacement handbrake lever.
If it's of any use, I will have a good used one.

Re: Sill progress
Looks like you've been busy! Don't forget to create the artificial seam at the back of the sill where it meets the front edge of the rear wing! All too often this seam is lost during repairs and it just doesn't look right without it and is an obvious indication that repairs have been carried out! We...

Re: Exhaust manifold removal
The manifold to front /down pipe studs were generally prone to seizing / shearing off due to corrosion, especially if steel nuts were used rather than the original brass type. I have removed many 2000 / 2500 manifolds during my 45 years () of owning them, and never had a problem releasing the...

Re: Wheel balancing
I don't think Halfords have ever owned / been a part of or have ever 'taken over' ATS - aren't ATS (ATS Euromaster to give them their full title) owned by Michelin?
