Re: Door seals
The original door seals were moulded at the top corners with a 90 ° (give or take) bend, whereas aftermarket versions aren't and require careful trimming and gluing. My experience of aftermarket seals isn't particularly good - the rubber compound seems a lot softer that the originals; the main probl...

Re: Total RIP OFF!
Hi Johnboy, The pipe you are referring to does get brittle over time. I have seen it replaced by clear plastic pipe which is probably a softer compound, but the warmth under the bonnet can result in the pipe kinking on the curve from the radiator panel to the overflow bottle. If you can get a used b...

Re: Front strut removal
Once the spring compressors are on and the tension released on the top mounting, then you need to put a spanner on the two flats of the insert to hold it whilst undoing the nylon nut with a cranked ring spanner, although it doesn't look that there much room to get an opened ended spanner on the flat...

Re: Outrigger
Hi Simon, What's the floor pan like directly above the outrigger? If that is totally solid, it may be an indication that the corrosion is confined to the outer edge of the outrigger, but as you know, corrosion generally extends further internally than is clearly visible on the outside. I'll be incli...

Re: Front strut inserts
Hi Simon, If you have a decent pair of spring compressors, then you are half way there, although the other sometimes difficult task is removing the insert retaining cup at the top of the strut tube. Some are merely hexagon shaped with flats, but some require a key with pegs (a bit like an angle grin...

Re: Cut to the chase…
Don't forget that the 3 part sill structure on the Triumph 2000 range is an integral part of the vehicles body strength. Not having had the need to do myself, but I would leave as much good metal as you can to allow access to the areas you want to replace, but more importantly, it is strongly recomm...

Re: Tow bar or not Tow bar…..
I have a similar dent on my Royal Blue Mk1, just to the rear valance on the nearside. It was on the car when I bought it over 40 years ago, and was clearly caused by a minor impact combined with the fact there is a towbar fitted. I've often thought about pulling /pushing it out, but this topic has n...

Re: Heavy duty clutch
A better couple of pictures of the original type Borg and Beck cover, and a picture in the above mentioned articles which shows the differences between the two covers from the inside of the cover.

Re: Heavy duty clutch
I'm just wondering why you need a so called heavy duty clutch? I towed a caravan with my Triumphs for many years with just the standard Laycock or Borg and Beck clutches with no issues whatsoever. I understand the difference may be the clamping pressure, but the torque of the Triumph engines isn't e...
