Re: Mk 1 cylinder head identification
Those numbers in my last post are the Triumph part numbers - there may be a separate 'head' identification number, but I haven't any info about that.

Re: Mk 1 cylinder head identification
Mk1 2000 cylinder heads all look the same with the externally visible push rod tubes. According to the official parts book for high octane fuel (ie UK markets)..... Up to chassis no. MB13750, they had a lower compression ratio of 8.5 to 1, which was part no. 512826. From MB13751, the cylinder head h...

Re: Clutch advise please
Was there a nut between the slave cylinder mounting bracket and engine back plate, as appears to be the case in one of your photos?

Re: Clutch advise please
Looking at the angle of the 'flats' at the end of the slave cylinder relative to the supply pipe and the bleed nipple positions, which are positioned at 45 degrees in the picture, I would say that the bleed nipple is correctly at the top. I see where you are coming from Bill, but I think it is just ...

Re: Clutch advise please
What chassis no is your car Joe? Upto chassis no. 69000, Mk1's had a 1" slave cylinder, and after that chassis no. a 7/8" bore. Some argue however that fitting a 7/8" bore slave cylinder instead of the 1" gives a better clutch clearance. Looking at your photo, there looks like there is a nut between...

Re: Clutch advise please
Personally, I would replace the seals on the slave cylinder, as there is no doubt an issue with the them if there is fluid under the rubber cover. Irrespective of what you decide to do about the clutch, the seals in the slave cylinder need renewing, and are the easiest of the likely jobs that need a...

Hydroscopic means it's relating to a device for viewing underwater.
I should say it was a 'typo', but you probably wouldn't believe me...

Re: Clutch advise please
It sounds like a hydraulic issue, and assuming the fluid level is still ok in the master cylinder, I would do the easiest things first - Slide the rubber boot on the slave cylinder back and see if there is visible brake fluid behind it. If there is, then the seals want changing, but check for scorin...

Welcome to the Forum Ian. As Dave says, it is now a lot quieter due to the various Facebook groups, but still a valuable source of information from members with many years of experience of 2000 / 2500 / 2.5 ownership!

Absolutely no problem.
Glad you sorted the problem - what did you find was the cause?
