Re: Cuts out when hot at idle and difficult to restart.

Sounds like it could be a number of different problems. Fast idle / difficult to start without choke is probably that the inlet manifold butterflies are not synchronised. If it's a 1973 car then you may well have the later type of manifolds (2 balance pipes between each) which are a real pig to set ...

Re: rocker alignment

Thanks for the update. It's always good to know when things work out - or indeed, I suppose, if they don't!

Re: Compatibility between 2000Mk 2 & the 2.5 PI

I think the 2000 and 2500 cylinder blocks are the same. The extra 500cc is gained by having a longer stroke, and the 2.5 sump may be different to cope with the longer crank throw. Early 2000 and 2.5 cylinder heads were different, but later models used the same cylinder head (218225) and the 2000 had ...

Re: Carbodies - just how much did they do?

Cambro made the trim panels for the estate car using the same trim material as for the rest of the car. NOS estate car trim panels occasionally appear on eBay and they look (to me) to be made in the same way as those for the saloon. I have to say that I think your trimmer must have been mistaken ...

Re: My imported 2000 mk 1.

There is a 'V765 scheme', the purpose of which was originally to help to reclaim an original registration number when the vehicle had not been registered with the DVLA by a certain cut-off date (that I can't remeber, but some time in the 1980s). More recently the role seems to have been expanded (by ...

Re: My imported 2000 mk 1.

Unfortunately the Register does not currently have a DVLA officer, which is why the Register does not appear in the DVLA's list of recognised car clubs. We stopped doing it many years ago, as more than 10 years had elapsed with no call for interaction with the DVLA. Now in the last couple of years ...

Re: Triumph 2000 on new single cover

I'm sure it would be an article of interest, and our editor Andrew Newman would no doubt be able to advise you.
He may well see your reference to it on here, but I would email him to see what his thoughts are -
