Jaguar X type estate.

Hello all,

this month's Jaguar Enthusiast Club magazine has an article comparing a 2005 X type 2.5 petrol with a1978 Triumph 2500 S estate. The Triumph comes out very well in comparison in the writer's opinion and has more behind the rear seat room and greater front seat room. He also comments favourably on the large glass area. Not bad for something nearly 30 years older.
Certainly the Jaguar has better performance and is also 4 wheel drive; both cars cost the same to buy incidentally (6,000).

Perhaps you should (if you haven't already Alec) post this on the CT forum too. Pete Jackson has an Xtype estate, albeit in the diesel variety, as a daily car. He also has a 2500 estate.
I know that the Jag disgraced itself a little, towing his two door to the NEC earlier this month.

Hello Colin,

yes, I can do that, I posted it here also because Mike Stevens has one I think (maybe a saloon however)?

Whose 2500S estate did they use, anyone know?

Hello Alan,

It belonged to the JEC magazine editor, Nigel Thorley, but he does say in the article that he has recently sold it. It is registered AMA 17S, if anyone recognises that?

Nigel bought it at Stoneleigh actually and it was around 3years ago Alan. When it was being sold it even had that new paint smell to the car.
I've seen it at YT a couple of times.
It has also been white with a black bonnet when it was a service barge and believe it was russet brown originally when a certain Fuzzy Harris owned it a few years ago.

Mike Stevens owns an X300 XJ rather than an X type Alec, far too many Xs in Jaguar history.

Hello Jim,

yes, that's it, several photographs in the advertisement are ones used in the article, and also Nigel Thorley lives in Doncaster.

Do you have any contact details for Nigel you could PM me? Like to see the article and perhaps get permission to reproduce in SIXappeal?
