Boot Trim Panels Mk1 2000

#1 Post by Sinc1964 » Mon Mar 16, 2020 8:08 pm

I am currently restoring a 67 Mk1 2000, but unfortunately there was no trim at all in the boot.

I have managed to locate a boot floor carpet ( with the vertical spare wheel ), as well as the side carpeted panels.

However, it appears that there must be some other panels ( in front of the fuel tank maybe) as there are several small brackets with screw holes present.

Also maybe something that covers the rear light panel.

Would anyone be able to upload some photos of what I am missing ?

Been looking on tinterweb but couldn't find anything for a Mk1. :(

The light units on the Mk1 are partially covered by the rearmost ends of each side panel, although they don't totally cover the light units like a Mk2. There is no panel covering the the small vertical piece of the rear panel between the boot floor and the boot lid aperture like the Mk2. Nor is there a panel.covering the lower part of the boot lid. There is a panel that covers the fuel tank that fastens just below the boot lid aperture and the lower panel to the rear of the diff.
In total, there are only 3 trim panels, plus the boot floor, wheel arch carpet pieces, and spare wheel cover.
What colour are the trim pieces you require?

I have a complete set of 1967 boot carpet panels in blue (not in great condition) which I can dig out and photograph for you.

I too have some used carpet pieces / panels, but its a shame that after starting a topic and then getting some replies, there is no further response from the o/p.....

Apologies...321...back in the room etc....

Thanks for the photos. Those seem to be the precise bits that I am missing.

Been told that the ones for my 2000 should be dark blue, but to be honest, I could always buy any colour and use them as a template to cut new ones I suppose.

Just anyone drop me a PM regarding prices......and where you are to see if feasible to collect....

I'll stand corrected, but my understanding is that on the Mk1, there were only red, blue (as shown in the photos), tan, and black carpet colours for the boot. Definitely not a dark blue. Making them yourself may be the only option but the spare wheel cover and wheel arch pieces had a clear rubbery backing which gave the pieces their preformed shape and especially for the wheel cover, some degree of rigidity - hard to replicate I would say.

Fairly certain you are right, those colours you mention were the options used for the MK 1's and I have been involved with MK 1's for many years.......From 1972 to be exact  But if there was any other colour................

You are probably correct about trying to replicate the spare wheel section.

Anyone in the Midlands have a spare set...?

Safest colour is probably black as I could always buy any missing pieces new without the match standing out too much.
