Original Purchase Receipts

#1 Post by v8sam » Sun Feb 02, 2020 9:40 am

Hi all,
When looking through this month's issue of the SIXappeal magazine, I noticed that there were a few images of people's original purchase receipts for their cars. I'm wondering if anyone else has these and would like to share them to compare prices of the cars, optional extras etc. Just think it would be interesting to see :D

Here's mine:

1967 Triumph 2000 MK1 in Gunmetal Grey
1969 Triumph 2000 MK1 in Valencia Blue
1997 Audi A6 C5 Quattro in Black
2003 Peugeot 206 in Indigo Blue

Interesting one, I'll have to see what my "archives" reveal. I know I probably have only a couple with original paperwork.

A few more key fobs and tax disc holders...
Clark Motors in Rochdale was where I first saw a PI as a teenager which I tried in vain to talk my father into buying one....at least I came out with something all those years ago!

M & I Motors on Church St, Burnley was the supplying dealership of my Gunmetal Mk1 2000.

Stanbourne Motors of Bournemouth were the supplying dealership of my now (somewhat sadly) sold Triumph Stag.

Arnold G Wilson of Trafalgar St, Burnley were one of three (!!) Triumph dealerships in the town at the same time. Fierce competition there! Just an old tax disc holder I have in my collection.

A few duplicate attachments there - but it's first time I've actually managed to upload photos on here, so that's an achievement in itself for me being a bit of a technophobe...👍

The original tax disc holder from my 1973 2.5PI.
Supplied by Reliance Garage in Glossop, who were authorised Triumph dealers, but strangely didn't have the Triumph logo on on the holder. The car still has its dealer sticker in the rear window which also doesn't have the Triumph logo. They are listed in the Triumph Sales and Service booklet however.

Dutton Forshaw on Corporation Street, Preston were the suppliers of an 'R' reg Triumph 2500S that I bought back in the late 1990's for breaking. This was the paper document wallet that came with the car depicting their logo.

I assume you good people are familiar with the work of Steve Weblin (Vitesse Steve) who is gradually cataloguing triumph dealers and their stationery. The Preston site has a few ditties on there:

PS/ He would be grateful to receive any of the items posted on here to add to the story he is telling.

Steve posted a reply in this topic (3rd reply) with a picture of a Triumph dealer tax disc, which
then prompted me to dig mine out!

I would like a photo of your rear window sticker, when you can, to add to my collection. I was pleased to see that the firm (RelianceGarage(Glossop)Ltd) is still trading at the same address.
