Where are they now?

So I have been wondering what has happened to all the 2000s that used to appear at shows,in magazines and at the nationals over the years,what reg numbers do we remember and do we know where the cars are now?

I have quite a few old photos of Triumphs from various car shows and Nationals since the late 80's and nineties - I have thought the very same thing previously......it's good looking back at them and with some thinking I wish I had 'that' car now......Mk1 PI's come to mind!
But at least I can look at these photos whenever I want now, and in the future - these days photos on your phone or even ones transferred to a PC invariably can get 'lost' when the system they are stored on goes pop or you get a new phone. I know they can be stored somewhere up in the ether but it can't beat physically holding an old yellowed photo with curled up corners, showing a handwritten name or place and sometimes a date on the rear to jog your memory.....
I still have a CD (transferred from some sort of video camera) of the 1988 National at Dalemaine in Cumbria. There's a few interesting cars and faces on that.....!!

Cecil Lane had a Sienna Brown Mk2 PI estate CUX734L (or very similar) - a lovely car......
Geoff Withey had a Sapphire Blue 2000 Mk2 saloon SUD920L - a stunning car which I saw at Nationals and the then 'STIR' days...
Mark Ainsworth had a lovely Sapphire Mk2 PI saloon BKV 990L - an immaculate original car. When it came up for sale, I'd have bought if I could have afforded it, but Rimmers got it and it started to go downhill from then on....
Harry Betts had a lovely Triumph White 2000 Mk1 saloon TBY927F (I think ?) but that started to deteriorate when Triumph World (Tony Beadle) had the long term use of it....
Geoff Brown had an immaculate Mk2 PI in (rare for a Mk2) Royal Blue ACH 63H ( again I think??) - again a stunning vehicle.
Roy Presdee with his immaculate Triumph White 2000 Mk1 saloon GCL777F.
The list could go on (and probably will!)....
There are plenty of others I can remember (and would have liked to have owned!)..

why is it that as you get old you look back at the chance you had of buying certain cars but turned them down most of them now worth a fortune I like looking through old car mags on prices of yesteryear also found in an old mag the ad for my estate I bought 20 years ago happy days

Unfortunately John, most of the above seem to have disappeared off the DVLA's radar since earlier this century, perhaps they are destined to be future "barn finds" hopefully.

I'm still waiting for that Mk1 PI to turn up.
I still massively regret selling a Valencia G reg Mk1 PI in 1990/1. I found it in a scrap yard, and bought it from them (in the days when you could!). It had a later engine in it on carbs, which was past its best, and although a bit shabby, it was very very solid and required little, if any, welding. Unfortunately circumstances dictated that I sold it several months on, which I did for very little, and now I don't even have any record if the registration no. :(

I've always been a fan of these motors and had quite a few over the years as well as the one I still drive most days. I gave £200 for it when I was an apprentice. I can't part with it, people only recognize me by my car. As the years have passed however the comments have gone from 'I used to have one of those' - then 'My Dad had one of those' but now it's their Grandad that had one.
