I have been working with my father on his Triumph 2000 Mk2 1974, which is complete and turns over but will not fire. Does anyone know or can recommend a mechanic in the Mansfield area who could come and help us out.
Thanks in advance

Re: Mechanic Recommendation Mansfield area
Hi Mike,
Just a couple of quick questions...well three....
How long is it since it last ran?
Have you done anything to it since it last ran?
Respectfully, how good is your mechanical knowledge?
Depending on what the answers are to the above, then members on here may be able to point you in the right area to investigate without involving a third party.
Failing that, there are Register members in the Nottingham, Derby, Lincoln and Doncaster areas that may be able to help you. PM me with your contact details if prefer someone else to investigate the issue, and I can pass them on.
John

Re: Mechanic Recommendation Mansfield area
The car has been off the road for approx 35 years. My father removed the head as he told me the head gasket had gone. I have helped him put it back together and we are trying to get it running. The car is kept in a garage so it is in excellent condition. We have replaced the plugs, plug leads battery etc and put some new fuel in, it turns over and sounds like it is trying to fire but when you release the ignition key it stops. It could be a number of things but would appreciate the assistance of an experienced mechanic rather than replacing components ad hoc until we find the problem.
If you know someone that could help please feel free to supply them my email address below.
Thanks

You may also a get a response on Facebook if that's your type of thing. Don't use it myself but a lot of members/owners do.
