Wanted. Differential.

I’m looking for a known good differential for my MK2 2000. 4:11 or 3:7, I don’t mind which, but it MUST be a good one please. I’ve already fitted a supposed good one, which was noisier than the one I removed!! I’m in Dorset. Thank you.

How soon do you need one? I have a known good 3.7 diff for a Mk2 2000 auto.
Only two problems I can see - 1) it still needs removing from the car its on so isn't available immediately, and 2) I'm a good few miles from you in Lancashire!
There's also a chance I may have one off a car, but problem 2 still applies!
Also just wondering why you are not bothered whether it is a 3.7 or a 4.11?

Hi Johnnydog. Thanks for the reply. My car is fitted with a 4:11, and a 3:7 will give me better high speed cruising, so either will do. Definitely interested in a good diff, but as you say, logistics is a problem. I’m guessing a courier will be costly, due to the weight. I can wait, so if there’s a Triumph event we are both attending, then maybe we can arrange something. I’ll keep my eyes and ears open.

Just be mindful that a higher ratio diff from standard will make the car a bit more lethargic at lower speeds. Going one step further, I know someone that fitted a 3.45 diff to a manual 2000 in an attempt to achieve what you're striving for, but soon changed it back to a 4.11 as it was flat at low speeds.
I see your car is a manual overdrive although you don't give its age. If it is an A type gearbox with a 22% reduction, maybe fitting an earlier J type with a 25% reduction, or the later J type with a 28% reduction give you the better high speed cruising without affecting bottom end / lower speed performance?
