Joe,

I have a non- programmable 123 dizzy fitted to my car which is a 2500S injected, and can honestly say it's the best modification that I've done - it has 16 settings and once you get it right it completely smooths out the running. I think mine was set on either 1 or 2 - but if you're a Register member, just drop Dave Harvey an email and he will let you know the setting - personally I'd stick with it!

Thanks for that, exactly the reason I want to give it a go!

Just to update everyone on this, I have fitted the 123 and am currently running it on setting 'B', which is a max mechanical advance of 23 degrees at 4500 and 12 degrees of vac advance. As the car is an auto it rarely sees above 3k through regular driving.

The 123 has smoothed out the running of the car quite nicely, and improved starting performance too.

Hello Joe,

good to hear it's an improvement which means your old distributor must have been defective. All of the curves listed will have your car retarded at low revs as none start advancing until 1000 engine revs. Triumph engines start advancing at about 7 to 800 rpm. You can balance this by a compromise setting on the static advance.
