Just home from Wick. It really is a long way home! Car running really well. Finished in 35th place due to a failed wheel bearing (changed on the side of a Welsh road in the dark in 40 minutes. That cost us 4 minutes of penalties, and two punctures when we only carry one spare (cost us 75 minutes). Car is also a bit bent! Oops. Reversed into something in the dark, probably a huge rock. Stoved in the rear a lot at the bumper mount on the off side. The boot doesn't fit any more, even when I pulled it out a bit. It should all come out OK. Also 'grazed the front offside bumper end and wing attachment whilst avoiding a competitor who had crashed and took to a bank and 'brushed' a hedge. This it what burst the two tyres!
Thanks to Wild Bill who sent an envoy, Ian, to see us near Glasgow. It was good to get some encouragement even if we didn't have long to chat.

It is that time of year again, and I am competing in the T2000 on the 2017 LeJog with Richard Lambley navigating for the second year. We drive to Lands End on Thursday prior to scrutineering. Friday will be plotting the route and we set off on Saturday at 0730. We should arrive in John O'Groats on Tuesday morning having taken a tortuous route through the west country, Wales at night before crossing into Scotland and a hard night on Monday. For more details and spectator information together with life updates when the rally is taking place, please see the HERO website at https://heroevents.eu/event-type/le-jog/ The spectator details are about 3/4 the way down the page.

I will not be able to go to John O'Groats on Tuesday but will take a wander around Wick later that evening to see if I can spot your car.

The above is a link to photos I took last night of some of the cars that completed this year's LeJog.
There is a big six in amongst them......

Thanks for the images Ian, we were delighted with our silver medal, team prize and 6th overall. The conditions were somewhat challenging with ice and snow throughout Wales and Scotland. The 2000 was amazing, going up and down icy slopes, only having to push when on several occasions, Minis got stuck, and we had to stop and were then unable to get going again without help.
Oh, and Wick is a very long way from here, 818 miles in 15 hours, bit tired today!
The red TR4 damage at the back was the Rover P4 sliding into it at a control, and the front was were it decided to go through a wall. As a guess, 75% of cars suffered some sort of damage, but luckily this year we were not one of those statistics.
