Mk2 2500 floor grommets

#1 Post by Gary H » Tue Aug 02, 2016 6:00 pm

Hi all,
anybody know why in my 76' 2500 I have big 4" floor grommets in my rear foot wells and why older shells don't have them?

What were they for?

Mk2 2500 floor grommets

Something to do with how the body was transported down the assembly line. Not sure why early ones don't have them though. My 72 certainly doesn't but my old 77 did. Anyone shed any useful light on this?

That makes sense but why so late in production?

I was under the impression they were to let paint run out when the shells were dipped, though that doesn't explain the addition of such large ones.
