RR diff prefix?
Hello everyone..I'm scratching my head here
so I hope someone can explain why I'd have 'RR' as a prefix stamped into the rear diff?
It's supposedly from a late 2500TC, I checked canleys list and there isn't anything that relates to that?
Sure someone will know...

Re: RR diff prefix?
Has it got the prefix it ought to have, MG, near to it? Just wondering whether the RR has been stamped on it at a later date maybe, by a company if it's been overhauled or re conditioned?

Re: RR diff prefix?
hi gary,
ive got two nos diffs here that were rebuilt by the bl factory back in the day, and i'm sure they both start with rr , will need to double check next time im in the lock up, but 99% sure.
so if im right, you have a rebuilt unit, using old school proper machined internal components.

Re: RR diff prefix?
forgot to ask, is the number stamped on the top of the casing, rather that where it normally is ?
Re: RR diff prefix?
Hi lloyd, that'd be great if you could have a look at yours mate.
I can't upload photos, not sure why?
My dad (more knowledgable, more experience on triumphs then me) reckons it's not in the usual place, it's stamped parallel to the mating edge of where the cover bolts on on the upper side of the diff.

Re: RR diff prefix?
your pics are prob to big gary, you need to resize them to 640x480 i think it is.
yep, with the number being stamped where it is, you have a rebuilt factory diff from back in the day, i wonder how many miles it has on it ?

Re: RR diff prefix?
I really couldn't guess?
it's turns real nice, no sign of any oil leaks and there isn't any play in it at all.
Just looks terrible because of how it's been stored.
Out of interest, what sort of value would you put on it?
