I fitted an electronic flasher unit (from a modern Vauxhall  ) to both of my Triumphs, straight swap, just needs an earth wire to the +31 terminal spade. One major advantage is that you get an instant feed to the indicators as soon as you operate the switch, handy for lane change on the motorway instead of the annoying two second delay you have with the standard flasher unit. It will also support a trailer lamp without the need for a heavy duty unit, and it has a louder 'tick'. What's not to like? :)

That's what I do too! Modern solid state unit, add the earth and job done.

I've got the same on the Stag, cable tied to one of the brackets for the wiper mechanism. This has meant an even louder 'tick'! Not sure what's in the PI, but it works Ok so "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". (Or - " if it ain't broke, fix it until it is"!)

Cheers,
Mike.

Seems to be much happier now with a new relay fitted, kept the old one just incase it was dated 1974.

Hello SAH,

bear in mind that a slow flasher rate may be caused by a low generator output, and a solid state relay will not be affected so giving an apparent improvement. While the generator is probably OK it's worth a check in my view?
