Hello

I found one source from ebay that might interest you. You should check the compatibility from supplier.

Elsewhere I found that there are still replacement parts availabe for some old tractors that used originally similar Smiths motor.

(I have no connection to the companies mentioned here.)

PS they obviously had some "issues ongoing" in their ebay-shop which caused failure when using the link given above

Link is working now but no mention of 2000/2500 motors.

I think the Spitfire, GT6 etc one is probably what is being referred to.
As far as I'm aware from what I've read the old Smiths Heater motors with the three lugs including the 2000 Mk1 one are all virtually the same and interchangeable the differences being internal things that effect the fan speed (so that one should fit).
If you had the Smiths part number you might be able to search which other cars use the same specification heater motor.

Hello again

I guess we shouldn't be so literal when searching parts for our cars. They just don't get recognised by suppliers who seem to remember only Triumph "sports" cars.
The Ebay shop actually shows offering from http://www.mg-cars.org.uk/ah/.

If you don't have specifiation for the Smiths motor, then attached photo of mk1 Pi label may help you:
371 (640x480).jpg
Smiths (5KW) code FHF5505/05, model F.500
Speed control is at least partly achieved with an external resistor that can also be found in the shop.
(
Personally I would not change the original motor just because of sticking bearing bush. The motor can be opened and serviced.
)

Maybe even the Dolomite range too. They have a similar 'snail' type of blower.

Cheers,
Mike.
