Wooden Door Capping - Driver's Door - Mk2

#1 Post by 72Triumph » Tue Mar 05, 2024 11:39 am

Does anyone know where I might get hold of a NOS wooden door capping for the driver's door (for a Mk2) please?

I have found NOS cappings for the other three doors, but the one for the driver's door seems the most hard to find.

Grateful for any leads!

Does it have to be NOS, what about 2nd had ? It would not be a perfect match either way as the ones on my car are a pair in terms of grain.
I do have some cappings but not sure which ones, I'll check my stock.

Thanks for the reply. Second-hand would be fine if condition is OK.
And yes, getting the grain to match is a job-and-a-half! I remember them being a maple colour (the same colour as the dashboard wood), but the NOS ones I found are much darker.

I'm sorry, I've looked in my loft and I've only got the near side front and rear. You're right about the colour matching, some years ago I purchased a new instrument panel in a Rimmers sale and it is a lot darker than the one still in my car. I only bought it as it was cheap (£5.00) as you never know if you need one, but it wouldn't really match.

Thanks for going to the trouble of checking your loft stock!
