MkI Heater Label

#1 Post by Richard B » Thu Jul 06, 2023 7:22 pm

Does any one know what the Code and Model number should be for the label on the heater MkI post facelift (1967-1970)

This is a landrover one as an example

I don't suppose you kept a record of what seals go where? I am refurbing a spare heater box for my Estate but it came empty, I have bought both sets of seals from CW but no list given as to what fits where, some are obvious, others less so?

The seals I took off, may not have been original or in the right place.

I did think it would have been nice to have had a drawing with the kit. As yours is a pre-facelift, the loose flap is half the size of a facelift and you have the three round vents.

Found the label! This was taken at Paignton. Thank you whoever that car is. Now I need to see if I can get someone to make some! If anyone can corroberate the numbers that would be good.

Thanks Richard, I'd got slightly confused as I have a NOS matrix which came with it's original foam attached, it is slightly different from what CW supplies.

I have a 1967 Mk1 - not sure whether that means pre- or post- facelift - I've never known what that meant. The heater label of the original is unreadable, but the replacement is identical, from an early 1964 model.

It has the 3 holes like yours, and the plate, in excellent condition, reads:

CODE FHF 5505/05
MODEL F.500

A (post) face lift Mk1 is easily identifiable as they have the twin eyeball vents in the dash with lower heater controls and leather seats to name just a couple of changes.

A Pre-Facelift heater has an oval hole and a small rectangular slot, where it bolts to the vertical face of the bulkhead.

A Facelift heater has a long rectangular slot where it bolts to the vertical face of the bulkhead.

So presumably there are two different model numbers.
