Front valence mesh

#1 Post by Carboy0 » Sun Apr 14, 2019 12:45 pm

I am looking at whether to run bumperless in Rusty Custard, the car looks quite good without the bumper, but the great big holes in the front valence, suggest that some mesh of some kind should be fitted for safety and aesthetic reasons. There’s a straight run for stones and road debris into the radiator matrix.

If anyone has fitted mesh previously, two questions, what did you use and how did you secure it?

I can't answer either of the two questions, but there are several Register members who run their cars 'bumperless', and none of them use mesh in the lower air intakes. They are still quite exposed when the bumper is in situ, although not as much visually. I would presume most stones that end up in there come from a lower angle from the road surface after being flicked up by other cars. I have recently emptied the lower balance on my PI of the small stones (it probably has never been done before) and there wasn't that many in there, and although it does have a front bumper, I don't think it prevents little stones from getting in there in my humble opinion.

Fair enough, still thinking about it.

Any other opinions, suggestions, advice welcome.
